Dates and Conditions:
4 double-round (8 round) thematic 10+5 Swiss, organized by the Israeli Chess Federation (ICF) and the JeruChess Chess Club.

Date:  Wednesday 23 November 2022 at 18:00 sharp. Participants in the FIDE World Teams Championship may sign up at the venue at 17:30, and there may be a few additional lucky spots. The tournament will run efficiently and will conclude by 23:00.
Venue: JeruChess Chess Club, 5 Yohanan Ben Zakkai Street, Jerusalem, Israel.

Prize Fund: 10,000 NIS in prizes

Dr. Shaul (Saveliy) Dudakov:

Dr. Dudakov was born in 1939 in Leningrad (today’s St. Petersburg), where he survived the siege of Leningrad. He moved to Israel in 1971, where he was a true man of letters, beloved by all. Dr. Dudakov was also a chess master, who played several times in the Israel Championship. As a chess player, Dudakov was a bold tactician and a tenacious defender, who thrived on dynamic play and prefered black (“like my life”).

Ratings:

The October 2022 FIDE standard ratings will be used; players without a FIDE rating will be rated by their national rating. As the tournament is thematic, the games will be unrated.
Registration:
The registration fee is 100 NIS, half-price for soldiers, pensioners from age 65, and IMs. Players with GM titles may enter for free on condition of registration up to 48 hours in advance.

10+5 Blitz
Themes:
Each double-round’s games will be played in one of Dr. Dudakov’s favourite openings. Each player will play the opening of that round once as white and once as black against the same opponent. The openings will be as follows:
* Rounds 1 and 2: King’s Gambit 1. e4 e5 2. f4
* Rounds 3 and 4: Albin Countergambit 1. d4 d5 2. c4 e5
* Rounds 5 and 6: Czerniak Sicilian 1. e4 c5 2. b3
* Rounds 7 and 8: Blumenfeld Countergambit 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 c5 3. d5 e6 4. Nf3 b5
Prize fund:
1st- 3000 NIS 2nd- 2000 NIS 3rd- 1500 NIS 4th- 1000 NIS 5th- 500 NIS
Under 2400 – 500 NIS
Under 2000 – 500 NIS
Best female player – 500 NIS
Best senior – 500 NIS
Each player can only win one prize, not cumulative. Category prizes are conditional on a minimum of five players for that category.

Pairings:
Pairings for the first two double-rounds (rounds 1-4) will be accelerated Swiss, and for double-rounds 3 and 4 (rounds 5-8) will be Swiss.
Tie Break:
Money prizes are divided equally in case of a tie in tournament points.
In the event of two players tying for first place, the winner of the tournament, who receives the winner’s cup, will be decided by a blitz play-off after the completion of all final round games. The play-off will consist of an Armageddon with 3+2 time control. White in the Armageddon will go to the higher-placed player by tie-breaks. The Armageddon game will take place in the Evans

In the event of three or more players tying for first place, the top two will be determined by tie-break, in the following order of priority, and will enter the play-off described above:
• Direct encounter
• Sum of opponents’ scores (Buchholz)
• Sonneborn-Berger
• Number of won games
